Attack on the Internet, Congress Introduces IPAA

American citizens are well aware of Internet freedoms being taken by Washington lawmakers due to legislation in the past, such as SOPA, PIPA and CISPA. Which are all geared towards scaling back freedom and merging security companies with the government to share data information. However, the fight for Internet freedom seems to be ongoing.


The Intellectual Property, Competition, and the Internet Subcommittee of the House Judiciary Committee recently conducted a meeting, bringing forward a new bill known as Lamar Smith’s IP Attaché Act. Lamar Smith is recognizable when Internet legislation is involved, the Representative from Texas authored SOPA, which received many co-sponsors. Amid civil disobedience and drastic action by the American public caused SOPA to be defeated in the Senate.
