Help Find Haidar Abushaqra

On December 7, 2011, Haidar Abushaqra called his wife to let her know he had a business meeting to finish up and he'll be on his way home. He never made it home. That dreadful day was the last that anyone had heard from him. He disappeared without a trace. The last place he was seen was his car dealership in Manchester, Connecticut. The last people to see him, deny knowing of his whereabouts yet refuse to take polygraph tests.

Haidar was one of the founders of the National Palestinian American Congress. He was also the president of it. Before he went missing, he was placed on the Federal Watch List. He asked his lawyer how he could get off it because he wasn't comfortable with being labeled as a threat. On New Years, President Obama passed the NDAA in which section 1021 states, "Nothing in this section shall be construed to affect existing law or authorities relating to the detention of United States citizens, lawful resident aliens of the United States, or any other persons who are captured or arrested in the United States." Section 1022 states, "All persons arrested and detained according to the provisions of section 1021, including those detained on U.S. soil, whether detained indefinitely or not, are required to be held by the United States Armed Forces. The law affords the option to have U.S. citizens detained by the armed forces but this requirement does not extend to them, as with foreign persons. Lawful resident aliens may or may not be required to be detained by the Armed Forces, "on ".the basis of conduct taking place within the United States

The American Civil Liberties Union has stated that "While President Obama issued a signing statement saying he had 'serious reservations' about the provisions, the statement only applies to how his administration would use the authorities granted by the NDAA." and, despite claims to the contrary, "The statute contains a sweeping worldwide indefinite detention provision... [without] temporal or geographic limitations, and can be used by this and future presidents to militarily detain people captured far from any battlefield." The ACLU also maintains that "the breadth of the NDAA’s detention authority violates international law because it is not limited to people captured in the context of an actual armed conflict as required by the laws ".of war

Haidar was an activist, yes, but he was also a father, a husband, a brother and a loved one to many. He was NOT a threat to his country nor was he a "terrorist". He was just a man trying to live the "American dream." and now that's all been taken away from him. He has six children including 2-year old quadruplets, a six year old son and an eight year old beautiful daughter. All they want is their .daddy back
